Located 1 hour from the Mediterranean coastline, in a protected environment in the Mercantour National Park, Valberg is known as a ski resort, offering alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, skis mountaineering, and a snowpark, all under the Mediterranean sun.

Don’t fancy skiing today? Why don’t you go on walks or horseback rides in snow ? Or Ice skate in the village rink. Valberg is excellent for children, with ski lifts easily accessible directly from the village, ski parks to learn skiing, the nursery “The  P’tits Poucets”, a luge track, and of course plenty of space for snowball battles and snowmen.

Valberg is a charming resort, authentic and friendly. With ski-lifts located directly in the village and a compact village atmosphere every point of interest is easily accessible and walk-able. Valberg opened in 1936 and soon will celebrate its 80th anniversary! The oldest ski area in the French Department.

The village has a warm atmosphere, combining village houses, farmhouses and modern accommodation, and breathtaking nature in a Riviera sun always present. Valberg is at the top of a hill to the West the mountain chain of Saint Honorat and on the eastern slopes, Mont Mounier, pastures of Beuil and the neck of the Couillole.

The ski area and ski out activities

Valberg is also assured of skiing with ultra-modern facilities in constant evolution. Valberg uses nearly 400 snow cannons, allowing the village ski area to provide snow covering 85% of skiable terrain when weather patterns aren’t producing sufficient.

The non-skiing activities have an equally important place in Valberg so that each stay is unforgettable. Marked snowshoe trails are there for all to enjoy, both in the heart of the resort or on the surrounding hills allowing you to enjoy breathtaking views of the village. The rink, horse rides, snow bikes … everything is there to satisfy the desires of all. The heart of the village is a pedestrian zone and the village offers a system of free shuttle buses and electric cars in car-sharing to move about.

For the summer visitor Valberg has a golf course, as are adventure companies offering Rafting, Canyoning and Mountain Biking.

Valberg Skiing Snapshot

Valberg France (in the Alpes du Sud region) is a large resort with 21 lifts ( 6 chair lifts, 15 surface lifts) that offers skiers a respectable 416 metres (1365 feet) of vertical descent.
Valberg has 618 acres of terrain over 52 pistes with a total length of 90 kilometers (56 miles).
Valberg is best suited to intermediate skiers and snowboarders but there is some terrain for beginners and advanced skiers.
There are 25 kilometers (16 miles) of cross country ski trails at Valberg. For snowboarders, there is a terrain park.

Family is the ideal choice, thanks to the structures and areas dedicated to children. The Famille Plus label guarantees you a special welcome for young people: Piou-Piou Club to learn to ski, the nursery Little Poucets to rest, the Family Park to slide while having fun, and secure and signposted tobogganing areas to enjoy freely.
